Construction Update: National Center for Civil & Human Rights

DOWNTOWN — The National Center for Civil & Human Rights is taking shape.

The $125 million facility currently under construction is scheduled to open May 2014.

The facility is being built near the World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium at Pemberton Place.

Its focus will be on black Americans in the modern American Civil Rights Movement and its impact on other social justice movements around the world.

The center also will be the only public place in the world displaying the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. Collection (King Papers).

Immovable Media caught some images of the work so far in the accompanying video.
