Year of Boulevard 2013: Fall Update

by Kwanza Hall

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2013 Year of Boulevard Fall Community Cleanup on Saturday, Oct. 19! More than 150 dedicated volunteers, community leaders and City of Atlanta Public Works staff gave their time and efforts to the cause.

The cleanup was sponsored by AMLI Residential, Wingate Management, the Icebox and the Frisco Touch Massage. The morning kicked off with words of inspiration from the Rev. Joseph Crawford of Fort Street United Methodist Church. Volunteers were treated to breakfast from the Sweet Auburn Bread Co..  Our good friends at Highland Bakery donated the coffee. At the end of the morning, cleanup volunteers from the Bedford Pines community received clothing, accessories and books, courtesy of Caring For Others, Inc.

We also want to thank our local team of dedicated Boulevard corridor partners, including APD Zone 6, the City of Atlanta Department of Public Works and the following neighborhood association leaders who served as team leaders:

  • Catherine Chase
  • Princess Wilson
  • Kit Sutherland
  • Susan Cowser-Bailey
  • Tim Hollis
  • Andrew Randall
  • Stephanie Saxon
  • Martha Porter Hall
  • Joe Carbone
  • Dan Weinstein
  • Melvin Brown Jr.
  • Marcel Benoit
  • Edna Moffett
  • Operation P.E.A.C.E.
