Thieves Try ATM Theft at Savi Market

INMAN PARK — Atlanta police are looking for the drivers of two U-Haul trucks who tried to knock over the free-standing Fidelity Bank ATM at the Savi Market in the dawn hours of Oct. 26.

The thieves were able to knock the ATM at 287 Elizabeth St. down but didn't take it in the attempted theft, which occurred at about 5 a.m., according to police.

Police found the one U-Haul stuck atop of the ATM and the metal/concrete posts surrounding it.

Witnesses followed the other U-Haul which they reported to police was later abandoned in the 600 block of Irwin Street.

Both vans' door locks appeared to be punched out, a sign that they were likely stolen.
