I-20W Slain Maybach Driver Identified as Local Rapper, OG Double Dee

DeKalb County has released the identification of the man who was shot while driving on I-20 near Glenwood Ave.

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office said the man shot multiple times last week on I-20 West near the Glenwood Avenue exit is 42-year-old James D. Lewiel.

As East Atlanta Patch first reported, the victim, whose stage name was OG Double Dee, was part of a well known hip-hop team named Freebandz. The rap artist, Future, is the most famous artist from the team and is currently in radio rotation.

Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution death notice.

DeKalb Police are still looking for clues into a possible motive and leads to the white SUV that was seen fleeing the shooting.

The AJC's funeral notice says that Lewiel’s funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Life Church in Decatur.  The burial will be at Kennedy Memorial Gardens in Ellenwood. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at the church, which is at 3592 Flat Shoals Parkway.
