Abandoned Near I-285, Roscoe Needs a New Home

by Chrissie Kallio

EDGEWOOD — My husband and I live in Edgewood and are hoping to place this dog. My husband found him dangerously close to I-285 on Thursday and couldn't bear to leave him where he might get hit. We have been fostering him over the weekend, but have a 5-week-old baby, two dogs and one cat already in our home. Most importantly is, of course, our new baby. It is such a challenging time with sleep deprivation and feeding schedules and getting to know him, that keeping another dog in the household is just not an option.

My husband took him to the vet on Friday and he is microchipped (that is how we found out his name is Roscoe) – however it looks like his owner abandoned him as we have left several messages with no response. The microchip company would not give us the number or the address of the owner, but did give us the street name. My husband drove there and around the area he found him in to see if anyone posted flyers, but none were posted.

We have had him at our house over the weekend, and he is a very sweet boy. He is fixed as well. He will sit, shake, has been sleeping in the crate at night without crying, no accidents in the house or crate, has not chewed anything in the house, is not food aggressive, is good with our other dogs and has been very sweet to the baby too. He craves human contact and just wants to be close to you. He did well in the car, and my husband walked him on the leash and ran with him – he was a good runner! He is still young – about a year the vet thinks – so definitely has puppy energy but has been really good.

We would love to find him a good home, with speed.
