Event Recap / Sidebar’s 10th Anniversary Party / August 23, 2013

On Friday, August 23, 2013, friends, family and fans of Downtown Atlanta’s beloved neighborhood bar, Sidebar, swarmed Poplar Street to help celebrate a full decade of great eats, good times and many memorable nights. Beginning at 5:10 p.m., the carnival-inspired street party kicked off with an hour-long open bar, courtesy of PBR  Deep Eddy Vodka and Red Bull  Attendees enjoyed cold brews and complimentary Twinkies as they mingled with other regulars, new and old alike. A DJ provided the indoor soundtrack for the evening, while local cover band Bedhead took to the outdoor stage, entertaining the crowd with throwback hits like “What I Like About You.” Revelers danced in the street, and right on cue, glow sticks were brought out to provide another level of entertainment. 

Later in the evening, the Imperial OPA performers dazzled the crowd with performances by beautiful showgirls, a stilt walker, fire-eaters, fire-dancers, and a snake handler. Local magician, Howie The Great, also provided a whimsical and entertaining magic act for partygoers. At 10 p.m. on the dot, complimentary Cinnamon Toast Crunch shots made with Rumchata and Fireball were provided for attendees for 10 minutes to toast to Sidebar’s immense success over the last decade. Sidebar’s 10-year anniversary celebration continued late into the night, with attendees happily ringing in Sidebar's 11th year of success in downtown Atlanta.
