ReplyOK now that all the senseless rants are over, let's target one of the sources of the problem - kiosks that take your phone and hand you back cash, no questions asked. Perpetrators know this and that's why the phones are being stolen. They're going to their local phone "ATM" kiosk, getting hard cash for the stolen phone, and off they go. Get rid of the kiosks, get rid of (part of) the problem.

ReplyI'd love to see all the traffic signals, crosswalks and signage brought up to MUTCD standards before spending a nickel on a new stadium. School crossings are extremely dangerous and inadequately signed. One must stop at every single red light because every last one of them runs on a pretimed pattern and none of them have vehicle detection. We are as innovative as our most basic infrastructure - which by my calculation dates to about the 1970s. That's not a 21st century city, Mayor Reed. That's one with disco, high heels and cars without seat belts.

ReplyBrian Nichols "lost it" because he is a thug, a loose cannon and a mental case. Not because of some ill-perceived interpretation of being "disrespected". While I grant you the justice system failed twice, both to protect the public and to do its due diligence in prosecuting him for his crimes, it does not justify his actions and you are comparing (grossly I might add) apples and oranges to draw your analogy. To draw such a conclusion is rather obtuse, on your part, and an insult to the people he killed.
