Charmica, how many homosexuals have you put to death? That is the proscription in Leviticus 20:13. Do you practice Christianity by helping kill homosexuals or are you a bad Christian who cherry picks the bible to suit your own purposes?

ReplyHowever, the prohibition against atheist scouts is still in effect and there are more atheists in the US (estimated at about 20%) than homosexuals. I'm not sure government force should be used to require a (quasi-) private organization to not discriminate, but everyone benefits when institutions such as the Boy Scouts reject their past bigotry.

ReplyUnfortunately, these guys are NOT going up sh#t creek without a paddle. A recent story revealed thugs who have been arrested 30+ times (and I think, from memory one had 74 arrests). How is someone who is arrested 74 times still on the streets?! Either the police are harassing him by constantly arresting him for no good reason or the court system is beyond broken. Midtown residents will grow old over the next few decades being the repeated victims of Ronnie, Darius, and Sedarius. They will murder some of us.

ReplyIts not a curse, its concept and execution. Good ideas and high quality thrive even in awkward spots (ie - Antico, no foot traffic, poor parking, yet always a crowd waiting to get in). Bad ideas and/or poor quality or service will fail even at the most prominent locations.

ReplyThere's more foot traffic there than almost anywhere else in the Atlanta metro area. No more crappy chains. No more Mexican or Italian. This spot deserves a great unique concept, restaurant or otherwise. A great bakery, Indian, Japanese, Korean BBQ, Ethiopian, German, Thai, French, a pub with pool tables, ice cream, bookstore...

ReplyJM, will do... First, this sounds more like a dispute between two individuals who knew one another, so it is in a different category than the predatory violent crime against innocent victims in our neighborhood. That said, it is still a violent crime and I hope the police have, and Patch will provide, a description of the perps as soon as it becomes available. The quicker we remove thugs from our streets, the safer we will be.

ReplyI provide the description that the story provides. Having not been at the scenes of these crimes, I can provide no more detailed description. However, since a description of the perps is so essential to finding the perps, it merits highlighting. If a pattern emerges, that has value too. BTW, you now omitted the "young" - I don't say YBM if the perp is an elderly black male. It seems that you feel comfortable in dropping the "young" or the "Y" when in fact I have admitted that I am an ageist - the Y is the most revealing component of my bias. But, I suspect you will continue to dwell on the race component, attempting to create a race issue where none exists.

You forgot the Y in quoting me. YBMs.... The Y is very important to me, being the ageist that I am. I would only be interested in discussing WHY if it contributed to solving the crime. I still have made no assumption here that the perps were young or black; and I did not "just mention it in case we didn't see that it was already mentioned in the story." The story said "two men", followed by "The victim, who was unharmed, did not have detailed description of her assailants." My comment challenged that statement as being BS. It seems very unlikely that no description of the assailants, other than their maleness, was available. Others have introduced race as an issue into this discussion. A rigorous debate about long-term issues involving socio-economic variables that may lead to disproportionate crime stats, while important, is a bit out of place in this forum. Read the posts before you make incorrect accusations. I stand by my contentions that detailed descriptions of wanted criminals are important and should be reported.
