Are you kidding me??? White people are moving into the city and people of color are moving out. It's not because either group is ignorant. It's because of urban renewal and development which is gentrifying the city. Don't be ignorant. The BeltLine raised my rent by 20% last year and now that's it's done I bet it'll raise it 20% or more and I'll have to move out. I'll be replaced by someone with more money than me. It's not their fault though: I blame capitalist development and infrastructural expansion.
There are new development and infrastructural plans being made all over East Atlanta and all along the east side trail. These areas are being used as the breeding ground for the next generation of capitalist growth and expansion and everyone who lives there now will not be able to afford it - well, except along the Midtown side. I'm sure they'll just move further east toward Old Fourth Ward.
If you think everyone is just giddy about this shit then you are foolish. It's no surprise the city is installing 10,000 new surveillance cameras surrounding downtown. They know the anger is building up and they wanna stop it before it even occurs.
Don't even get me going on the commodification of our children's schools!
