ReplyAs a gay man I agree with Councilman Wan. Along with these sex clubs which are a breeding ground for sexually transmitted diseases especially the gay sex clubs are a lot of illicit drug use. Yes some people are employed but they are not good jobs and most are paid under the table or make below min. wage. The GLBT community should want to move past skanking around in dingy bars and sex clubs if we want to be open and accepted.

ReplyUpdate Folks, The project is now 10 million more over budget. Also FYI
Street Cars disappeared because of buses. If a bus breaks down you tow it away and put another on the line. If a streetcar breaks down the whole system is down. -

ReplyIf it is an Urban style walmart with other restaurants and businesses I have no problem with it. It it is a big box walmart or supercenter I am not in favor of it. The traffic will be awful and all those small shops in the area can get ready to close their doors because they will not be able to compete.

ReplyI may be wrong but I have my doubts about this project. If it is used it will probably be by tourists and not locals. Atlanta had street cars at one time and they got rid of them.

ReplyThe picture shown of Buffalo China is the old building. They have since built and moved to a brand new location on Moreland Ave which is very nice.

ReplyIt is nice to have a newly remodeled high school in the neighborhood even if it is a little over the top. I do have a problem with using school tax dollars for a Maynard Jackson museum. It seems that should be paid for with private money and be at the Atlanta History Center or somewhere like that.

Businesses are not equal in all respects. Some types must have traffic impact studies, others like liquor stores must be in certain locations and distances from things like churches. Thats why we have zoning laws. What we are talking about here is quality of life for the area residents.
