oh, i think I saw that it will cost less than the proposed Falcons stadium too.
How is the Minnesota stadium project being financed?
Of the project’s $975 million upfront capital costs, the Vikings have guaranteed that $477 million, or 49%, will be privately covered. The team will rely on a combination of private financing and equity, as well as NFL financing in the form of a loan repaid by stadium revenues. The Vikings also have the option to use Stadium Builder’s Licenses (SBLs), a financing mechanism used in many stadium projects.

The remaining $498 million public contribution will be split between the City of Minneapolis and the State of Minnesota and will not include new taxes or have a negative impact on the State’s general fund. The City’s $150 million contribution will be paid by redirecting a portion of the current “Convention Center Taxes,” while the State will issue appropriation bonds for $348 million. The appropriation bonds will be repaid through the modernization of State-authorized charitable gaming that includes electronic pull-tabs and bingo.

What is horrific, is that we are just waiting around for the gangs to start shooting and then some innocent bystander will be shot. This WILL happen. It is just a matter of time. I heard from a friend at soccer that a few months back a kid brought a bb gun on the bus ride home (so he had it all day long) and shot the bus driver, then 2 kids jumped out the bus windows when the driver yelled at the other kids to call the cops! Did anyone hear about that? Were parents on that bus route notified? Are those two kids at school? It is like parents need to call the news stations daily with a violence update, because APS isn't going to tell anyone. I cannot stress enough that there are DAILY fights and violent bullying. I truly believe that these problems would be eliminated by just eliminating a handful of kids. If they cannot act appropriately at school or in public, they are not welcome. And my plates clearly say Fulton county :)

Just read the Harvard Study article about K-8 success rates. very interesting. It makes sense. You move kids to a whole new school, new students, new teachers at a very emotionally unstable time in most kids. Puberty is just kickin in! :) My husband attended a K-12 school his whole life, he really liked the way you knew ALL of the teachers and ALL of the teacher knew you. They were parents themselves as well as coaches and friends of parents. Very stable situation. He doesnt even understand what it is like to be a new kid in a new school. I told him, "It is complete hell!" I dont know anyone who loved the first day of a new school. I went to 3 high schools. Not fun. :(

My mother teaches at a middle school and every classroom has very quiet mood music playing right after the class lecture. I have been in those classes while visiting her and it is dead quiet. I think it truly soothes those jumpy 7th graders. :)

This complex will be zoned for Hope-Hill, Inman, Grady. Just wondering what APS is going to do now that their has been a huge surge for people to live in the city, but the schools are already over capacity. I am a huge fan of more people living in cities, I just want to make sure that APS is going to step up and open some of the schools they have closed.

That seems like a pretty good idea. :) I attended K-8 schools several times as a kid. Really liked it. The parent base was really strong like it usually is at elementary schools, but then fizzles away at a temporary style middle school, then gears up again at high school. Lots of opportunities at the schools as far as music, theatre, sports, languages, etc. Also saves on transportation costs, traffic, administration costs and more.
