Eyesore property in the neighborhood? Let the city know.

Got garbage? Neighborhoods across the city have the eyesore property — you know, the run down home or trash-heaped lawn. So when we saw this mess at 905 Moreland Ave. SE in Ormewood Park, we had to stop. (That it's for sale makes it even more tragically comedic.) Neighborhood meeting after neighborhood meeting we've heard from city officials who stress they want to hear from residents about problem properties before they get out of control. So we reached out to City Councilwoman Natalyn Archibong's office and an aide promised code enforcement would take care of it. What Should Go Here? 1078 Moreland Ave.

Plans for townhomes and then self-storage facility fell-through.

The property at 1078 Moreland Ave. is quite tricky. SpaceMax Storage wanted to build 90,000 square feet of self-storage at the site, which is just north of the East Confederate Avenue. But a portion of the land, which remains vacant, falls within the city limits of Atlanta. The vast majority of the property is in unincorporated DeKalb. SpaceMax Storage, which has outlets in Virginia-Highland and Midtown, needed to get approval from DeKalb County on the proposal in addition to going through the approvals process for the city of Atlanta. But the company nixed its plans for the site.
