Financing Authority Approves Bond for Trestletree Village Project

$15 million in bonds will be issued to offset some costs related to refurbishing.

The Urban Residential Finance Authority voted Thursday to issue up to $15 million in bonds for the upcoming refurbishing of the Trestletree Village apartment complexes in Ormewood Park and Grant Park. The vote was unanimous. Denver-based Community Housing Concepts Inc. purchased the Trestletree properties in 2012, which includes the the 80-unit Trestletree North at 794 Ormewood Ave. SE in Grant Park and the 108-unit Trestletree South at 904 Confederate Court SE in Ormewood Park. The company is projecting it will spend $22.8 million on the project, which includes the acquisition costs.

Second Vote on Trestletree Village Expected Thursday

Urban Residential Finance Authority is to hold second vote on issuance of up to $15 million in bonds.

The Urban Residential Finance Authority is expected to take a second vote Feb. 21 on the proposal to issue up to $15 million in bonds for a planned redevelopment of the Trestletree Village apartment complexes in Ormewood Park and Grant Park. This second vote, which is required, follows the Dec. 20 approval the finance authority body already gave to the project. It is slightly less than the $15.6 million sought and approved in the earlier vote. Trestletree Village, which provides federally subsidized housing, includes the 80-unit Trestletree North at 794 Ormewood Ave. SE in Grant Park and the 108-unit Trestletree South at 904 Confederate Court SE in Ormewood Park. The finance authority is part of Invest Atlanta, the city's chief economic …

Out of curiosity, are there any readers whom are neighbors to either Trestletree facility which support this redevelopment? Please speak up. For the record, I would prefer them to be demolished.   more ›

Trestletree Village Passes First Vote on Redevelopment Project Bonds

Urban Residential Finance Authority will have to vote a second time in the spring before the issuance of up to $15.6 million in bonds.

The Urban Residential Finance Authority approved Thursday a proposal to issue up to $15.6 million in bonds for the planned redevelopment of the Trestletree Village apartment complexes in Ormewood Park and Grant Park. The approval is just the first step in the project. The finance authority, which is part of Invest Atlanta, the city's chief economic development body, will have to take a second vote — possibly in March if not earlier — of approval to authorize the bonds' issuance. The redevelopment would begin in April and is slated to be complete within a 12-month period. Trestletree Village includes the 80-unit Trestletree North at 794 Ormewood Ave. SE in Grant Park and the 108-unit Trestletree South at 904 Confederate Court SE in Ormewood…

Overhaul Planned for Trestletree Village Apartments

City to discuss issuance of $15.6 million issuance of bonds.

One of the longstanding — and hoped-for — redevelopment rumors in Southeast Atlanta has been an overhaul of Trestletree Village. The apartment complexes — there's Trestletree North at 794 Ormewood Ave. SE in Grant Park and Trestletree South at 904 Confederate Court SE in Ormewood Park — have long been the ire of the two neighborhoods. But a Denver-based, multifamily housing developer with a niche in low-income and Section 8 properties, wants to overhaul the 188-unit Trestletree Village properties. And to do that makeover, Community Housing Concepts Inc., which has properties in Cuthbert, Ga., Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky and a handful of other states, is seeking the city's help. On Thursday, Invest Atlanta, the city's economic development …

Shootout At Trestletree Village Apartments

Dice game may have sparked gunfight.

A disagreement stemming from a dice game may have sparked a shooting Wednesday night at the Trestletree Village Apartments in Ormewood Park, Atlanta police said. A woman who lives in the complex — long the source of quality of life complaints for residents in Ormewood Park and neighboring Grant Park — suffered lacerations to her arm and leg, but refused treatment, police said. She was caught in the 9 p.m. incident when, after hearing the gunfire, she ran out to get her children from a neighboring apartment, police said. A Trestletree Village Apartments manager was not immediately available for comment Thursday. Police gave the following account: A witness told police he saw three men near some bushes in the 900 block of Confederate Court …
