Councilwoman Natalyn Archibong welcomes the Atlanta BeltLine and improvements to Lang Carson Park.
REYNOLDSTOWN — Councilwoman Natalyn Mosby Archibong, Parks and Recreation Commissioner George Dusenbury and representatives from the Atlanta BeltLine were at Lang Carson Park Wednesday to open a new entrance to the green space. Lang Carson Park, located in the historic neighborhood of Reynoldstown, will be a key stop along the Atlanta Beltline’s southeast side. The park is in the process of being upgraded with landscaping, new equipment and benches and has been made possible, in part, by a generous donation from the local developer, Environs Residential. by Valencia Hudson REYNOLDSTOWN — One of Atlanta’s largest Earth Day events took place on Saturday, April 27 at 815 Old Flat Shoals Road SE. Residents of District 5 communities from East Lake to Cabbagetown took part in the 12th Annual Tire Round-Up sponsored by Atlanta City Councilwoman Natalyn Archibong. Saturday's haul netted 837 tires. Since 2002, District 5 residents have collected more than 12,000 tires. Since its inception, more than 12,000 have been collected and sent to be recycled. REYNOLDSTOWN — During warm months, the dog park at Parkgrounds Coffeeshop is a haven for man' best friends. Most of them come to and fro the old-fashioned way: They're walked on a leash. But LE (pronounced Ellie) is carried about in style, via backpack. It's a dog's life.

After several years in the real estate business, a former buyer's agent finds new success in another industry.
REYNOLDSTOWN — Success in business means adapting. It means change. And sometimes it means reinventing yourself. That's what Johnny Gianoulidis, owner of the Parkgrounds Café, a coffee, breakfast and sandwich shop that caters to java lovers and their dogs. Gianoulidis, 48, spent five years in the real estate business, three of which were great. But the last two years weren't. Four wanted for questioning in Jan. 13 incident.
REYNOLDSTOWN — Atlanta Police have released surveillance video of the four men wanted for questioning in connection with a Jan. 13 armed robbery on Seaboard Avenue. The victim told police he was walking on Seaboard Avenue close to the Inman Park Marta station and the Reynoldstown-Inman Park border when five men approached him, one of them asking him for gum. As he checked his pockets, he pulled out his mobile phone. One of the men asked him to use it and then walked away with the phone. When he protested, one of the men brandished a weapon. Though he reported being accosted by five men, the video only shows four. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404.577.TIPS (8477).

LITTLE FIVE POINTS — In a symbolic show of unity and to take a stand against at what they say is homophobia, more than two dozen friends and supporters of Luke Patrick O'Donovan met Sunday evening in a "town hall" meeting to support their incarcerated friend. O'Donovan, 19, remains in police custody following a New Year's Eve stabbing incident in Reynoldstown that left six people — including himself — injured with stab wounds. He is charged with five counts of aggravated assault. The victims have said the stabbings followed an argument they had with O'Donovan at the party. Agency renovating foreclosed site for new headquarters.
For years, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity has been based in Grant Park. The agency helps put families into their own homes that they, along with the help of volunteers and home-building professionals construct. But Atlanta Habitat, which has built some 1,200 homes across Atlanta and surrounding Fulton County since its founding in 1983, hasn't had a home of its own. (Atlanta Habitat is a separate affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, which has its operational headquarters in Americus and administrative offices in Downtown.) REYNOLDSTOWN — Last year's closure of Tech High School at 1043 Memorial Drive SE added yet another vacant Atlanta Public School building to the city's list of empty properties. APS had already closed several schools last year following the redistricting drama that gripped the district last year, including Cook Elementary in Capitol Gateway and East Lake Elementary. APS officials have explored alternative uses for Cook and East Lake Elementary is the temporary home of Coan Middle School students. Tech's closure wasn't redistricting-related, but school officials said it APS' funding formula for public charters, which a judge ruled illegal, was a factor in the decision to shutter operations.
