UPDATED: East Confederate Avenue Has Reopened

A tractor trailer was sliced open as it tried to pass under the 13-foot bridge.

UPDATED (4:18 p.m., Feb. 21): The street has been reopened. Original Post: GRANT PARK — The stretch of East Confederate Avenue that was closed following a an incident that invloved a tractor trailer that slammed into railroad crossing overpass is expected to reopen later today, according to CSX Corp. "CSX expects to have the road open to vehicular traffic later today," Carla Groleau, a spokeswoman for the Jacksonville-based railroad company, told East Atlanta Patch in a statement. "The company apologizes for the inconvenience to neighbors, and thanks local law enforcement for their assistance." The closure follows an incident Wednesday evening in which a tractor trailer clearly did not have enough headroom to clear the 12'-11" high bridge …
