Price Middle School Raising Funds for France Trip

Ten middle school students and 6 chaperones are to meet classmates from sister school on a 10-day educational trip. They are holding a fundraiser to defray cost of the trip.

HISTORIC SOUTH ATLANTA — The purpose of traveling to France is to further enhance students’ knowledge and skills to become active global citizens of our 21st century society. In addition, it will allow Luther Judson Price Middle School students to meet their French classmates from College de Haut Penoy and experience going to school in another country. However, in order to make this dream become a reality, we need your assistance by sponsoring 16 people selected to travel to Nancy–Metz, France. Price Middle School Holds “Love Not Hate” Forum on School Violence

“Love Not Hate” is a Student, Parent, Staff and Community Forum on School Violence which was held at Price Middle School on March 6th.

The gunshot that injured one student outside of Price Middle School on January 31st, led to many discussions on APS safety and to the creation of the 'Love Not Hate' Forum which was held on March 6th for students, parents, staff, and community members. The forum's goal was to begin the discussion on steps that should be taken to curb violence in our Atlanta schools.  The well attended forum included, APS Board of Education member Brenda Muhammad, Assistant Chief M. A. Perdue of the APS Security and Safety office and community activists Derek Boazman and Michael Langford. Basketball Playoffs at Price Middle School to Continue Under Heavier Security

After last week's school shooting, Price Middle School displays its stronger security measures.

The Atlanta Public Schools system has informed parents and staff that the planned middle school basketball playoff games that are were scheduled to be played on Monday at Price Middle School, are going ahead as scheduled despite the shooting incident on Thursday afternoon. According to the article at TalkUp APS, "attendees will see a visible security presence at the school; in addition, undercover security will be integrated into the population." Atlanta Public Schools safety and security officials are implementing a reinforced plan for the school and the playoff game, to ensure that all students, parents and community stakeholders are safe. Price Middle School Shooting: Metal Detectors Weren't Working

Atlanta Public Schools investigation shows they were inoperable.

An Atlanta Public Schools investigation of the metal detectors at Price Middle School following a Jan. 31 shooting of a student shows they weren't working. In fact, in a statement released late Friday night, the district said the detectors at the Historic South Atlanta school have not been used much this current school year. APS said that one of the two metal detectors is now functioning and that the other is expected to be operational next week. Students in attendance Friday passed through that metal detector and they were scanned with security wands, the district said in its statement. Mayor Reed, Atlanta Police and Atlanta Public Schools Hold Press Conference on School Shooting

Atlanta Police Chief Turner says that they believe the shooting was gang-related.

Thursday afternoon, Atlanta's school community was shaken to its core when news surfaced that a student had been shot by a fellow student on the grounds of Price Middle School in Southeast Atlanta. Reports quickly spread to parents as the Atlanta Public Schools system began to inform parents and staff through 'robo-calls.' Fortunately the child was not critically injured and was released from the hospital Thursday evening.  The shooter was taken into custody, just after he fired the gun by off-duty police officer, Investigator Solomon Bibbs, who works part-time at the school. Video: Superintendent Erroll Davis and APD Hold Detailed Press Conference on School Shooting

On Thursday, January 31, a shooting occurred at Price Middle School. One student was hit by gunfire, and another was injured.

A student was shot and a teacher injured Thursday afternoon at Price Middle School in southeast Atlanta. On Thursday evening the APS Superintendent and the Chief of Police held a press conference, which can bee seen in the video above. A juvenile suspect was quickly apprehended by a school resource officer and taken into custody, Atlanta police said. A small-caliber handgun was recovered. It appeared the victim and suspect knew each other and had argued earlier. Parents crowded around the school and were relieved to be reunited with their children when school let out. Atlanta police released this statement:
