Meeting called to address an unusual number of applications received for December.
We will be having a called meeting of NPU-O today, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Branham Recreation Center, 2051 Delano Drive NE, to address an unusual number of applications received for December and the meeting will address only those. Please note that City of Atlanta Planning no longer honors the December deferral of NPU-O items to January and will simply process them without any community oversight or engagement at all. The applications include: Mr. Williamson is chairman of Neighborhood Planning Unit-O, which includes East Lake, Kirkwood, Edgewood and the Villages of East Lake.

Neighborhood Planning Unit-O, which represents the interests of East Lake, the Villages of East Lake, Kirkwood and Edgewood, is delaying its elections for new officers for the 2013 year until January. A scheduling oversight caused the delay, Earl Williamson, NPU-O chairman, told members at the group's November meeting this week. Nominations will be taken from now through December with elections being held at the January meeting. Open positions include: chairman, vice-chairman, secretary and representative to the Atlanta Planning Advisory Board. Separately, NPU-O adopted its bylaws for the 2013 year. The NPU approved the Kirkwood Wine Stroll license and had a long discussion on the impact fees, but decided we couldn't decide on it because we really don't know what the ordinance contains. There is great resentment among small business owners over impact fees they have to pay but that big companies building in areas like the Beltline don't have to pay.
