Dunkin' Donuts to Present Moreland Store Plan at Inman Park Neighborhood Meeting

Chain wants to build store near Sherwin Williams in Little Five Points.

CANDLER PARK — Dunkin' Donuts, which already has plans to build a store on a stretch of Ponce de Leon Avenue in Old Fourth Ward, has plans to construct another store at 299 Moreland Ave. NE. The proposed site is a former gas station, just north of the Sherwin Williams paint store in the Candler Park portion of Little Five Points. Dunkin' Donuts representatives are slated to present their plans, which include a controversial drive-thru to the Inman Park Neighborhood Association's monthly meeting this Wednesday. The project applicant, Bob Zoeckler, wants a special exception from the on-site parking requirements that stipulate 43 spaces. Bad "Karma" for Vandalized Little 5 Points Boutique

Karma, in Little 5 Points, had its window broken and smashed early Tuesday morning.

LITTLE FIVE POINTS — Atlanta police investigators were still trying to determine if anything was taken from Karma, a Euclid Avenue boutique, following an early morning vandalism incident. According to Officer Kim Jones, an Atlanta Police Department spokeswoman: "The front window was smashed out with large brick around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning." Police did not release further details because investigators had not yet spoken to talk the store owner to see what, if anything, had been taken. Jones told East Atlanta Patch that mannequins near the window were knocked around and scattered, but that it is "unknown what items were taken." Stay with Patch for more as it becomes available.

Surveillance Video from Chevron Robbery in Little 5 Points

Atlanta Police have released video footage from the weekend robbery at Chevron.

LITTLE FIVE POINTS — The Atlanta Police Department needs your help in identifying the suspect from the Chevron Gas Station robbery that occurred Feb. 3 at 372 Moreland Avenue NE. According to the detailed police report, Officer Thompson along with Officer Hall responded to the call in which a store clerk was robbed at gunpoint. In the report, the clerk statede he "saw the gun pointed at him. He took about $10 to $200 in cash and gave it to the gunman. The suspect then told him to give him some lottery tickets and the clerk pulled out 22 Millionaire Jinge lottery tickets and handed them over. Uncle Maddio's to Open in Edgewood Caribou Coffee Spot

Fast food pizzeria to open in next year.

The Caribou Coffee in Edgewood Retail District which closed earlier this year is to become an Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint. The chain, which has three outlets in metro Atlanta, plans to spend $140,000 in renovations to the site at 1220 Caroline St., just off Moreland Avenue, What Now Atlanta reports. That stretch of Moreland going north into Little Five Points is becoming something of a Pizzeria row. Camili's Pizza recently opened at 337 Moreland Avenue and Little Five Points also is home to Savage Pizza and Little Five Points Pizza.

Celebrating Atlanta Beer Week One Brew at a Time

Wrecking Bar does its part to raise a glass.

by Mary Fiorello October 20-27 is Atlanta Beer Week so we at the Wrecking Bar are excited to collaborate with other local beer lovers. Last night, Nick Purdy of Wild Heaven Beer and the Wrecking Bar's Bob Sandage tapped a keg of their collaboration called "Wrecking Heaven." This a smoked Polish wheat style, using about 90 percent Oak Smoked Wheat malt from Weyermann. About 4.5 percent alcohol by volume, it was a style that mostly died out around the turn of the 20th century, but has been revived in the last decade. This is a collaboration to promote Georgia brewers and the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild. Other collaborations include Terrapin and Moon River Brewing and Twain's and SweetWater Brewing. The Little 5 Points Halloween Festival & Parade is an Atlanta favorite, drawing an estmated 35,000 people who come to enjoy what's billed as one of the Top 10 parades in the country. The weekend festival at Euclid and Moreland avenues kicks off Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. and features music, artists' and vendors' markets and food. But the main attraction is the parade itself, which, like the neighborhood, is an eclectic spectacle. Man Carjacked in Little Five Points

Gunman, aided by others, took off in victim's Ford Mustang.

Atlanta police report that a man was carjacked late Sunday in Little Five Points. The victim told police the incident occurred at the intersection of Moreland and Euclid avenues just before 10:34 p.m. July 15. The gunman, who is black and wore a brown bandanna over his mouth, pulled a gun on the victim, taking his 2005 black Ford Mustang. The gunman got out of an SUV of an unknown color that had several other men riding inside. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404.577.TIPS (8477).

Laptop Theft At Little Five Points Starbucks

Thieves fled in a red Chrysler and robbed someone else at San Francisco Coffee Roasting Co. in Candler Park.

Atlanta police are looking for two men involved in the snatch-n-run laptop theft at the Little Five Points Starbucks at about 12:30 p.m. Monday. The two also are wanted in connection with another snatch-n-run of a laptop at the San Francisco Coffee Roasting Co. in Candler Park moments later. In the Starbucks case at 506 Moreland Ave. NE, a witness said the two men got out of a red Chrysler and entered the coffee shop. The driver stood at the door with his hand in his pocket, while his accomplice when to the counter. Police said he made a quick turn toward the victim, who was taking a nap. The accomplice went to where he was napping and slowly unplugged the victim's laptop and ran out the door. The two jumped into the Chrysler with license …
