Defective Smoke Detector Replacement This Weekend In Kirkwood

Atlanta Fire Department's Station 18 to check, replace defective alarms following last year's recall.

The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department will be in Kirkwood March 31 to check and replace faulty smoke detectors that are part of a massive recall issued last year. Fire officials will specifically canvas Clay Street — both the northeast and southeast sections — to check and replace smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, following a 9:30 a.m. briefing at Fire Station 18, 2007 Oakview Road SE. Atlanta fire officials are recalling 18,507 photoelectric smoke alarms distributed to residents and businesses through its Atlanta Smoke Alarm Program because they had counterfeit Underwriters Laboratories labels affixed to them.
