Popeyes Opens in Huddle House Space

Long lines at the latest entrant to Moreland Avenue's Fast Food Row.

WOODLAND HILLS — Folks may decry the excess of fast food outlets found along the Southeast Atlanta stretch of Moreland Avenue, but the drive-thrus tell a different story. And so it is with the Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits, which opened about a week ago in the former Huddle House restaurant at 1211 Moreland Ave. All week, cars have been snaking in the parking lot as motorists queued up to the drive-thru, leading to long lines. Apparently, the lines aren't turning people off. We've heard from a couple of East Atlanta Patch readers who emailed us to let know they're repeat customers. To which we say: Happy, if not healthy eating.

Popeyes Coming to South Moreland Avenue

Fast food fried chicken chain to take over Huddle House spot in Woodland Hills.

Fast Food Row — AKA Moreland Avenue south of I-20 — is adding another chain to a list that includes McDonald's, Checkers, Burger King, Long John Silver's and Wendy's: Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits. According to the Tomorrow's News Today, the fried chicken chain, a unit of Dunwoody-based AFC Enterprises Inc., will open in the old Huddle House restaurant at 1211 Moreland Ave. at Vickers Street SE in Woodland Hills.
