Victim was shot at least once.
EAST ATLANTA — Atlanta police are seeking the public's help in the shooting death of a man found in the street in the 1200 block of Metropolitan Avenue SE, Saturday night. The 27-year-old victim, who was found at 11:55 p.m., was dead when officers arrived at the scene and appeared to have been shot at least one time. The motive remains unclear and police have made no arrests. Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404.577.8477 or investigators at 404.546.4235.

Victim spotted two teens running from her vehicle and into a waiting Jeep Cherokee.
EAST ATLANTA — A couple reported a burglary to their parked vehicle early Thursday. The victim was going to her gold Jeep Cherokee Sport near Braeburn Drive and Clifton Road at about 9:15 a.m. when she saw saw two teenagers already in her vehicle. When they saw her approach, they ran out and into a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee Sport that was waiting. The victim did not get the license plate number but did see that the waiting Jeep had a Georgia Tech sticker on the back. The incident follows reports of four auto break-ins and a stolen vehicle from two parking lots in East Atlanta Village on Wednesday.
Man was robbed on Flat Shoals Road.
EAST ATLANTA — Another iPhone, another "iTheft." A man reported to police he was the victim of an armed robbery in the 1600 block of Flat Shoals Road late Tuesday. The victim told police he was walking east on Flat Shoals Road just before 11 p.m. on April 7 when two men approached — one armed with a revolver and the other with a semi-automatic handgun. They robbed him of his iPhone and wallet, which contained $30. The men then fled on foot. This latest incident follows a string of iPhone armed robberies and attempted robberies that have plagued the city for the last several months including in Inman Park, Candler Park and Midtown. The driver of a '67 Camaro tried to flee but was caught.
EAST ATLANTA — A motorist slammed into a group of pedestrians outside the Asylum in the Village in the overnight hours early Friday morning. Robby Manley was driving a red 1967 Camaro south on Flat Shoals Avenue. He was laying drags, lost control of the vehicle and drove up on the sidewalk, Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones said. The Camaro struck three men on the sidewalk and pinned one of them for an instant, against the building which is at the the corner of Flat Shoals and Stokeswood avenues. "Once the vehicle came to a stop, Mr. Manley ran around the corner and threw his keys," Jones said. "He was located and arrested. The keys were located." Sweets shop left its Flat Shoals Avenue storefront but promises to reopen in East Atlanta soon.
EAST ATLANTA — OMG! Cup and Cakes, which opened in November of 2011 in the Village, has closed. The popular sweets shop promises to reopen by June 1 in another spot in East Atlanta. In a note to fans on its Facebook page the shop owners wrote: Hey everyone... OMG Cup and Cakes is expanding. We have closed our store in order to prepare for our build out. A Feb. 19 incident involving a city garbage truck in East Atlanta left sand and a oily goo on May Avenue. It's still there.
EAST ATLANTA — The squeaky wheel may get the grease, as the proverbial saying goes, but when it comes to grease spills, it takes weeks of persistent phone calls to Atlanta City Hall. Such was the case of Rob Downs, a May Avenue homeowner who logged multiple telephone calls and e-mails to city officials in the Department of Public Works since February 20. Downs called public works offiials following an incident in which a city garbage truck broke down in May Avenue's 1300 block and spilled sand and a greasy susbstance. Despite initial promises from a customer service rep that he woud hear back from the DPW, he hasn't and the mess is still there. "It's been six weeks," Downs told East Atlanta Patch. The club is starting a House Music night every Saturday, kicking it off this weekend with an all-vinyl house night. It’s also the 10th year reunion of the Rare Form DJ Crew. Eastlake Pharmacy opens on Glenwood Avenue.
EAST ATLANTA — Longtime residents will remember the Village's old East Atlanta Pharmacy and beloved ice cream parlor. The pharmacy closed years ago but the Village has an independent neighborhood pharmacist once again. Eastlake Pharmacy opened March 6 at 1308 Glenwood Ave., next door to Holy Taco. Thomas Jusu, the pharmacist, told East Atlanta Patch he picked the location "because I was looking for an area where I already know the community." Jusu was a pharmacist at the CVS in Moreland Station Plaza before going the independent route. Building on those personal relationships, Jusu, who hails from the West African nation of Sierra Leone, said he felt he could better serve his customers.
