Fundraisers for Cancer-Stricken East Atlanta Firefighter
Glenwood restaurant to host event for captain from Station 13.
The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department's Station 13, here in East Atlanta, is hosting a fundraiser at the Glenwood Neighborhood Pub Aug. 25 to collect funds to help offset expenses stemming from an illness one of their own is battling. A 20-year veteran of AFRD, Capt. Greg Wise went to the hospital for what he thought was appendicitis, Chris Chaffin, a co-worker and friend, told East Atlanta Patch. It turned out to be cancer, Chaffin said. Chaffin and fellow fireman, Joey Shoemaker, are responsible for the 7 p.m. fundraiser at the Glenwood, which will feature drink specials food and live music.
