Longtime EAV business is going online-only.
Visitors to the East Atlanta Village know on Friday's and Saturday nights, the little store at 493-b Flat Shoals Ave. SE, was the jam spot. Feed Your Head Music provided the soundtrack to streetside happenings with a playlist that ranged from Motown to trip-hop for many a weekend. But Feed Your Head, an EAV retail staple for more than three years, closed late last week. A "for rent" sign now hangs on the door. While the store's physical store is closed, the business remains in operation online. "Everything is fine, I'm just pursuing better income," Feed Your Head Music owner Thom Osburn, wrote to fans on his store's Facebook page. "The store was fun and was always profitable, it was just not worth the 60-hour weeks. Not when I can run an …

Fallen Arrows in Inman Park launches "Wastage Wash" eco-friendly tee-shirt line.
Fallen Arrows, the Inman Park-based digital fabric printing company, is launching a new, environmentally friendly tee-shirt line that reuses the waste ink that's left over during production. The result, owner Tito Sands said: "Wastage Wash." Reusing the waste ink, the company has created a line of one-of-a-kind tees that come in three basic patterns: “Splatter,” “Lilypads” and “Original.” The idea is the brainchild of Andrew Bellury, Fallen Arrows' manager. He came up with the concept while stacking containers of waste ink. "Coming from an artistic background and just being a person that doesn't really enjoy throwing anything away, I sort of set out to find some sort of use for them," Bellury said. "Wastage Wash came out of that." It …

East Atlanta Village anchor business shutters doors after 15 years.
Traders Neighborhood Store, an early pioneer business in the East Atlanta Village that helped draw other businesses, is closing, the Georgia Voice reported. It's not immediately clear why the furniture and home goods store — a staple in the EAV's business district for 15 years and one of the anchor retailers that helped the neighborhood in its renaissance and revitalization — closed. Owners Shawn Ergle and Michael Knight had contemplated closing Traders nearly two years ago, following the economy's sharp downturn. The two, who also are life partners, owned Area at the Edgewood Retail District, in October 2005. But the economy took its toll and consumers pulled back on high-end merchandise Area offered. They closed Area four years later. "I…
