Holy Comforter Church Burglarized

Suspects remain at large.

Atlanta police are looking for the person or persons who broke into Holy Comforter Episcopal Church sometime Monday afternoon. A neighbor walking his dog in the 700 block of Woodland Avenue told police around 7:30 p.m. June 11 and saw that a piece of broken wooden fence against a window to the church, according to the police incident report. Items taken included two laptops, a projector, a speaker system, two digital cameras and two book bags. Anyone with any information is urged to call Atlanta Police or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404.577.TIPS (8477).

Police Nab Two In Lakewood Heights Burglary

Pawnshop's gun case was burglars' target.

Atlanta police arrested two men early Tuesday following a handgun burglary of a pawnshop in the Lakewood Heights neighborhood. They also received a little help from a witness who saw one of the men and identified him after he returned to the scene of the crime. Police officials noted it was a good example of the Atlanta Police Department's See Something/Say Something campaign, which encourages residents to speak up about what they know regarding crimes that could lead arrests. Police were alerted to the 4:48 a.m. break-in at the Lakewood Pawn Shop in the 1700 block of Lakewood Avenue, when the burglars tripped the alarm. When they arrived, they found an air conditioning unit on Rhodesia Street, which runs alongside the pawnshop building. …

Homeowner issues warning about thwarted burglary

But none in the manner as described below. by Ross Cunningham Two young black males wearing white tee-shirts and dark athletic shorts, cut power to my home in the 800 block of Ormewood Avenue by flipping a switch (my fault for no lock, that will change tonight). I was home and went to check the outside box from a window in the house. I heard them heading around to back of my home. {"cut power to my home in the 800 block of Ormewood Avenue by flipping a switch (my fault for no lock, that will change tonight)."} Don't be too hard on yourself about that, quite a few break-ins around my neighborhood, the thieves have totally cut the power lines to knock out the alarm. Of course most people have the wireless alarms set up so it was still set off when they kicked in the door.   more ›
