Weekend Planner: East Atlanta Beer Fest, Art Events at Studioplex and More

Events and happenings around the Patch this weekend.

May 18:

  • MAMA Art Collective: 9:30 a.m., Martha Brown United Methodist Church, 468 Moreland Ave. SE. Cost: $25.00
  • Rock on the Grass: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., 1560 Memorial Drive SE.
    • This is a concert-on-the-lawn type event with local bands playing on stage
    • Kid friendly - games and activities for kids
    • BYOB & LC/B (lawn chair or blanket)
    • Free pulled pork or pulled chicken BBQ
    • Free "I Rocked on the Grass" t-shirts for as long as they last
    • Super chill and laid back way to hang out, have fun, and meet locals.
    • Games for Adults: While bands are transitioning there will be competitive games for adults - limbo, sack races, ship to shore, and build a shelter - Winners of the competitions will receive AWESOME prizes compliments of Barnes & Noble and Uncle Maddio's Pizza.
    • Food Pantry Collection: While this event is completely free, donations of food to the Edgewood Church food pantry to help feed hungry people and families in the community is appreciated. Ideal items for the food pantry include hearty soups or stews, canned chicken or tuna, ramen, canned fruit, canned or dried beans and canned veggies.

May 19:

  • Backyard Composting Workshop in Lake Claire: Learn how to to make rich, dark compost for use in your yard or garden. 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake Claire Community Land Trust, 280 Arizona Ave. NE. Cost: $10
