Trying Hard To Not Let Our Neighbors Go Hungry

Edgewood Church seeks community's help to stock food pantry

by Nathan Dean

I need your help. Edgewood Church operates on a very tight budget and our resources get stretched thin this time of year.  As of yesterday evening our food pantry was empty and a local school counselor just contacted me about a family in need of food. We try very hard to not let anyone go hungry that really needs it and I don’t want this family to go hungry over Christmas.

Can you please help us in one of two ways?

  • Would someone please adopt this family of four for Christmas and really set them up with food - ham/turkey, bread, canned veggies, etc. Think about what is on your grocery list for the next two weeks. Please contact me if you are willing to do this.
  • Would all of you help us fill up our food pantry? The most helpful items are: canned chicken or tuna, canned soup or stew, rice/pasta/ramen, canned fruit (in 100 perrcent juice if possible), canned or dried beans and canned vegetables. You can drop these by the church, but please call or email to make sure someone will be there.

We try to be very responsible with who we help and the way we help. We rarely help anyone with food who we don’t know or who isn’t referred to us by a school counselor or community leader.

Thank you all so much!
