Top Goals For East Atlanta In 2012

East Atlanta Community Association president lays out his Top 10.

The start of the new year brought with it changes in elected officers at several neighborhood associations.

Lewis Cartee was elected president of the East Atlanta Community Association for 2012, succeeding Austin Dickson, whose term ended.

East Atlanta Patch asked Cartee what his top goals are for EACA in 2012 and this is his list:

  1. Continued focus on organizational strengthening begun by the previous President.
  2. Continued growth of the relationship with the East Atlanta Village Farmers Market through shared events.
  3. Build on successes of Arts & Culture Committee (plays, live music) from 2011 with more original pieces of art (in any form).
  4. Work on additional greenspace potential.
  5. Get final implementation of Adopt-a-Street program.
  6. Grow commitment between EACA, Burgess-Peterson Academy and the community including further work on redistricting proposals.
  7. Demonstrate EACA's understanding of the importance of the history of the community through "Looking Back" spotlight at monthly meetings, as well as increasing historical perspective on EACA's website.
  8. Revive the East Atlanta Business Association.
  9. Increase EACA membership 100 percent.
  10. Work to foster a greater sense of community by openly offering ALL citizens a chance to come together for both social and volunteer activities.
