Wells Fargo gives $10,000 to East Lake Foundation's youth education program

Wells Fargo has long been a supporter of community efforts to improve student achievement.

The San Francisco-based bank, which has several branches in the metro area including one in East Lake, on Thursday donated $10,000 to the East Lake Foundation's Creating Responsible, Educated and Working Teens program.

CREW was formed to give East Lake teens with the tools they need to finish high school, and plan for college and the workforce. Teens get tutoring, homework assistance, standardized test preparation, as well as community service and leadership training.

They also receive career counseling and help with navigating the college admissions and financial aid process.

The East Lake Foundation, which was founded in 1995, aims to tackle the systemic issues that keep people in poverty in East Lake by advocating for education, affordable housing and other community-oriented programs.
