Wine And Magic, Little Five's Halloween Parade And A Little Bit Of Holy Energy

What's happening this weekend for your weekend planning

FRIDAY, Oct. 21:

  • As a thank you to the community, the Friends of is hosting an night party of "Wine, Cheese and Magic" at the library, located at 400 Flat Shoals Ave. SE. The party, which begins at 6 p.m., will feature Atlanta magician and mentalist Joe Turner. His show starts at 7 p.m.

SATURDAY, Oct. 22:

  • The is holding a Race For Education at 8 a.m. at 560 Fayetteville Rd. SE. The event is hosted by the Clara Mohammed Schools of Atlanta. Click here to register. Check-in begins at 7:00am, Fun Run begins at 7:30am and 5K Race begins at 8:00am.
  • Those of us priveledged enough to live in Little Five Points, know the L5P Halloween Festival and Parade is one of the best in Atlanta. Now in its 11th year, the parade, considered to be one of the nation's 10 best, begins at 4:00pm at the intersection of Euclid and Moreland avenues. Live music begins at 12:00am on two stages and goes through the day until 11:00pm.  The Findley Plaza Stage is hosted by Turnin TriXXX.  The main stage is behind Star Bar and is hosted by Minette Magnifique.  Click here for the complete line-up.
  • Who doesn't want to save moon energy bills? The Georgia Interfaith Power & Light presents its popular workshop on saving energy at home. The program is geared to people of every faith to help them save money by saving energy. at 737 Woodland Ave. in Ormewood Park hosts the free Home Energy Audit Class from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 22:

  • Atlantans love to eat out. And drink. Sunday gives them a chance to partake in their favorite passtime by sampling the Taste of Atlanta. The Taste features some yummy dishes from more than 80 eateries in metro Atlanta and of course wine and cocktail tastings. In addition, for those of you wanting to be a little more adventurous in your home, there's some food seminars and demos as well as cooking competitions. The all-day event (which will be held on Saturday, too) is at Spring and 5th streets. Tickets are $25 for general admission if purchased in advance, $35 if purchased on-site. VIP tickets are $75.
