Welcome, Atlanta BeltLine Police Force

APD officers trained Thursday and Friday on the Eastside Trail for new BeltLine unit.

OLD FOURTH WARD — Users of the Atlanta BeltLine got an early glimpse of the Atlanta Police Department's Path Force on the Eastside Trail on Friday.

Our friends at the Ponce City Market captured some of these veteran APD officers training on the trail for the unit.

The Path Force's formation to patrol the BeltLine will be staffed with 15 officers and is funded through a federal COPS grant.

The unit is expected to deploy later this month or early July, APD spokesman Carlos Campos told East Atlanta Patch.

The Atlanta BeltLine is a 33-mile loop of trails and 1,200 acres of greenspace that will form a necklace of parks around the city when fully complete.
