The loss of a loved one — particularly someone especially close such as a parent, child or sibling — never easy at any age.
But it's especially true for children.
It's the reason behind the 2012 Memory Walk and Spring Picnic that was held May 19 in Coan Park.
The Memory Walk is a fundraising event sponsored by Kate's Club, a Midtown-based organization that helps children who've suffered the loss of a loved one, explained Ormewood Park resident Rachel Ezzo, the group's development director.
More than 200 people participated in the Memory Walk, which raised $21,000 for Camp Good Mourning.
Located in Rutledge, just west of Madison, Camp Good Mourning lets children enjoy the outdoors in a traditional camp setting and learn ways to deal with their feelings of loss.
The Quest Foundation will match the money raised for the 2012 camp year.
