Two APS Meetings Scheduled This Week

Your chance for input on schools consolidation and hear what the superintendent has to say on Grady High cluster

Parents in the Atlanta Public Schools system have two important meetings this week affecting schools in East Atlanta Patch.

The first is Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. and features Erroll B. Davis Jr., APS superintendent at , 774 Virginia Ave. NE. The format of the meeting, which is sponsored by the Council of Intown Neighborhoods and Schools, is Q&A format. Parents are encouraged to ask questions about a number of subjects including the Grady High cluster of schools. Questions will be taken from the floor and you may submit questions in advance to cinsatlanta@gmail.com.

The second meeting is set for Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Parkside Elementary School in Grant Park, 685 Mercer St. SE. This meeting is one of a several meetings APS will have in coming months to get parental input into the ongoing demographic study looking at school redistricting and reconfigurations that could lead to school closures. The district has been taking online surveys as part of the process to gauge residents' views on the quality of schools and concerns they may have such as how important they view keeping current school zones vs. new construction and over crowding.
