2 Maynard Jackson High School Seniors Help Juniors Prepare for Senior Year and College

Students Guiding Students to Actively Create Their Futures, is the motto this group of seniors actively lives by.

Two Maynard Jackson High School seniors are receiving accolades for creating a program that provides a forum for current seniors to reach back and help upcoming seniors be prepared for all that they will have to deal with the following year, namely college applications and tuition.

As many former students and parents know, senior year can be both daunting and crucial in terms of finding the right college program to attend as well as finding money or scholarships to go to college.  According to the Maynard Jackson HS Facebook page, Brianna Tucker and Giselle Webb, are making the process a little less stressful for future seniors by showing them exactly what they will be going thru and helping them best navigate through the issues.

The 2 seniors created the 'Looking Ahead-Senior Year College Planning session' for current juniors, and recently held a work session for roughly 10 interested students.

According to the Facebook post, "students reviewed their class rank and GPA, identified five colleges they plan to apply (students were able to research entrance requirements via www.colllegeboard.com), and evaluated their education options (such as a vocational-technical school, career college, or two-year or four-year college), or a military career."

Some of these topics are never discussed among juniors, and college planning can be crucial to getting to where you want to be after graduating.  The kind of knowledge these juniors received included, "a guide to prepare for standardized tests and assistance with registering for the SAT/ACT, and lastly, students learned about Federal Student Aid."
