Earlier this year, Atlanta Public Schools named Thomas Kenner interim principal at Jackson High School.
Kenner replaced Shirline Carter, Jackson's former principal, and will remain interim while the district finds a permanent replacement.
As part of that search, several Jackson parents, along with the help of APS, have created a survey that asks interested stakeholders in the Jackson cluster — parents, teachers, students and local business partners — what qualities they want in a new principal.
It asks them to rank several criteria ranging from the importance of trust and communication with parents and the community to setting goals to establishing high benchmarks for measuring success.
The hiring panel already is working to find a permanent replacement, but the survey, which remains open until the end of the week, is one tool by which it hopes to engage the greater Jackson cluster community.
