Carver School of the Arts and Carver Early College Named as AP Honor Schools

HISTORIC SOUTH ATLANTA — The Carver School of the Arts and Carver Early College were named AP Honor Schools by the College Board.

Grady High School in Midtown, also received the distinction.

Statewide, there are 424 schools that are receiving the honor for their Advanced Placement programs.

Carver School of the Arts was recognized as an AP Challenge School, a school of 900 or fewer students with students testing in four of the core areas (English, math, science, and social studies).

Carver Early College was recognized as an AP Access and Support School, a school with at least 30 percent of its AP exams taken by students who identified themselves as black and/or Hispanic and 30 percent of all AP exams earning scores of 3 or higher.

AP tests are scored on a scale of 1 to 5. If students score a 3 or above, the grade earned in the AP class counts toward college credit.
