Burgess-Peterson Academy Seeks Kitchen Cart for School Garden

Hello friends of the Burgess-Peterson Garden. It has been a fun and exciting school year in the garden so far. I hope you've been keeping up with us on Facebook or by checking out the garden when you're at school. I know some of you got to taste some of the garden's harvest at the last PTA meeting. How great was that?

I'm writing to ask if you know anyone who could build us a mobile kitchen cart. I'm thinking of something relatively simple: 2x4s with a butcher block top and wheels with brakes. It would have a power strip attached and another piece of butcher block that folds up to expand work space when the cart is in use.

We have the butcher block and grant funds for supplies and labor, but I'd love a laborer recommendation. Of course, if someone wanted to donate their carpentry skills or provide a deep discount, that would be great. Let me know if you know anyone. Thanks.

Also, remember that Rebecca Kern and I are in the garden classroom with students every Thursday morning, so if you ever want to see things in action, feel free to stop by between 8:15 a.m. and 10 a.m.

This week we'll be helping the fifth graders imagine what they would need to survive on a farm they received through the Homestead Act.
