Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School Vying for Georgia Charter School of the Year

GRANT PARK — Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School is a finalist for the 2014 GCSA Charter School of the Year award.

ANCS, which also has a campus in Ormewood Park, is competing against Brighten Academy and Oglethorpe Charter School.

The winning school will be announced at the Georgia Charter Schools Association’s Charter Schools Leadership Conference, Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at Lake Oconee Academy. 

The winning school will receive a $50,000 grant from the Coca-Cola Foundation.

The award was established to honor excellence in education throughout the public charter sector in Georgia, GCSA said.

This is the third year of this partnership initiative between the Coca-Cola Foundation and GCSA.

Last year’s Coca-Cola Foundation winner was Drew Charter School in East Lake. The primary criteria for the winner included being in existence for at least five years and demonstrating academic excellence as measured by standardized achievement tests and operational sustainability and sound fiscal practices.
