City Selling East Atlanta Fire Station Property
The city is taking sealed bids through Dec. 20.
EAST ATLANTA — Anybody want a fire station?
The city of Atlanta of is looking to unload the old fire station at 447 Flat Shoals Ave. SE and began taking bids this week on the property.
A notice went up on the 2,148-square-foot structure earlier this week.
The site which needs a lot of work to bring it up to snuff, is being sold "as is."
Atlanta Fire Rescue Department Station No. 13 left the building, a few years ago to take up residence in a new, two story building a few feet away.
Since then, the building has fallen prey to the elements with roof leaks and vandals, as well as vermin, as evidenced by the rats residents said they saw scurrying in and out of the building at night.
The city is taking sealed bids through Dec. 20.
