Streetcar Work to Close Portion of Edgewood Avenue

City crews will work from Jan. 10 through Jan. 14 as part of the streetcar's East Loop construction.

The city of Atlanta's Department of Public Works issued this advisory regarding the Old Fourth Ward's Butler Street District:

City contractor crews are working to lower water services to facilitate Streetcar construction at the East Loop.

WHAT: Street closure along Edgewood Avenue between Jackson Street and Fort Street.

WHEN:  Thursday, Jan. 10 to Monday, Jan. 14, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

DETAILS:  Intersections at Jackson Street, W.H. Borders Drive, Hilliard St and Fort Street will remain open to accommodate traffic and the detour routes.

Travel along Auburn Avenue and Edgewood Avenue may be challenging over the next several months due to construction activity. In an effort to minimize construction delays, please follow posted detour route signage and travel with caution around the work zone. Motorists are advised to use caution or avoid the area if possible.

Please also note all local businesses are open during construction and need our patronage during this time in our city’s development. We encourage you to frequent and utilize the shops and restaurants along the Streetcar’s corridor to show our support and encouragement.
