Fulton County Holding Special Election For Gloria Tinubu's Seat

Feb. 7 election is being held because Tinubu is running for Congress in North Carolina.

Fulton County is holding a special election Feb. 7 for the State House District 60.

District 60, which includes a portion of DeKalb County that comprises East Atlanta Patch, as well as portions of Fulton and Clayton counties, had been represented by Gloria Tinubu.

But Tinubu resigned last month to run for for a Congressional seat in North Carolina.

  • Advance Voting: Residents can participate by requesting an absentee ballot in the mail, participating in Advance voting or casting a ballot on Feb. 7. Georgia voters do not have to provide a reason to vote prior to Election Day either by mail or in person. Advance voting for the special election begins Jan. 17 to Feb. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Fulton County Government Center (141 Pryor Street, Suite 2186, Atlanta). Saturday voting will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Fulton County Government Center.
  • Absentee Voting: The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the special election is Friday, Feb. 3. Absentee ballots must be completed and returned to the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections by 7:00 p.m. on the day of the special election (Feb. 7). You can download an absentee ballot application at www.fultoncountyga.gov.
  • Election Day: Fulton County will have seven voting precincts open on Feb. 7, the day of the special election. The polls will be open from 7: 00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information on the Special Election and other upcoming elections, residents can log on to www.fultoncountyga.gov.
