From the Atlanta Vendors Association
Another baseball season is upon us, but this year there will be something missing as Braves fans make their way to Turner Field. After slogging through a three-year fight in court and city hall, Atlanta's sidewalk vendors will gather on Tuesday to protest the one-year anniversary of being kicked off of Atlanta's sidewalks and kicked to the curb by Mayor Kasim Reed, robbing them of their right to earn an honest living.
Larry Miller, a Turner Field vendor who also serves as president of the Atlanta Vendors Association, and former vendors will display examples of the cost difference between merchandise that used to be sold by vendors and what is currently available at Turner Field's official concessions. The prices are guaranteed to shock Braves fans, and will illustrate just how costly Atlanta Mayor Reed's personal crusade against the city's vendors has been for Atlanta as a whole.
Examples on display will include:
Bottled Water (Outside Stadium, $1; Inside Stadium, $4.75)
T-Shirt with Name & Number (Outside, $28; Inside, $35)
Soda (Outside, $2; Inside $4.75)
Fitted Hat (Outside $25; Inside $40)
