MONDAY:

  • Your Government at Work — The DeKalb County School System's Board of Education has a 6 p.m. work session scheduled in the J. David Williamson Board Room at the Administrative and Instructional Complex, 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard, Stone Mountain.

TUESDAY:

  • Soccer Street Party — Soccer In The Streets and CREW Teens are hosting a soccer street cup event at the Villages at East Lake, 460 East Lake Blvd. SE. Dubbed "World Beat," the free event is a 4 x 4 soccer tournament aimed at exposing 7- to 12-year-olds to soccer.  years old to the wonderful world of soccer. Participants will receive a free t-shirt, drink and light refreshment. THURSDAY:

  • Tech High Open House — This is a mandatory event for new and returning Tech High families where they can meet their student's teacher and pick up school schedules., located at 1043 Memorial Dr. SE, is a Title-one charter  school. This school majors in business, technology and nursing. The Career Academy Program at this school offers a dual enrollment opportunity which allows students to simultaneously acquire credits from a local college. Students are required to wear uniforms. Cheerleading, basketball, robotics, calculus, photography, chess and more to keep your student intellectually and physically busy are available. The open house is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

  • Vision of Peace — The — 449 Auburn Ave. — is hosting "Visions and Voices of Peace" to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the dropping of the atom bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. The event, which runs from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. will feature a light reception, screening film clips from Hibakusha: Our Life to Live with a Q & A with director, David Rothauser and dramatic readings of firsthand accounts from children survivors of the atomic bombs. It also includes music, spoken word poetry by Alice Lovelace and Theresa Davis and a photo exhibition of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The event is free.
