Zone 6 and Crime: Southeast Atlanta's Needs Not Ignored

Part 2 of 3-three part interview with Zone 6's commander.

KIRKWOOD — Southeast Atlanta residents may grumble that this quadrant of the city doesn't get the attention or services — such as enough police — that they believe free flow toward Buckhead or Morningside, but they should know those communities complain, too.

It's a persistent perception City Hall tries to dispel as well as the police.

In the second part of our three-part interview with Maj. Timothy Peek, who is commander of Atlanta Police Department Zone 6, said crime is a concern to city leaders no matter where it occurs.

Solving them when they occur in Southeast Atlanta is just as important to the police chief and mayor, as it would be for any other neighborhood, regardless of affluence or perceived influence, he said.

He also talked about Zone 6's staffing since the 2011 reconfiguration of APD's six zones.
