Woman Carjacked in North Ormewood Park

Vehicle later found in southwest Atlanta's Greenbriar neighborhood.

NORTH ORMEWOOD PARK — On the same day Atlanta Police Department announced the capture six men suspected in a string of carjackings including in East Atlanta and Cabbagetown and other parts of the city, a woman reported that she was the victim in yet another incident.

The victim, who was injured in the 5 p.m. incident and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, becomes at least the eighth motorist to be carjacked in an East Atlanta Patch community since Jan. 1.

The victim told police she was heading to her car in the parking lot of Glenwood East Apartments at 390 Stovall St. SE after visiting a friend.

As she headed toward her vehicle, she noted two men following her. She put some miscellaneous items in the trunk of her vehicle and headed for the driver's side door when one of the men grabbed her hands to restrain her.

She fought back, biting her attacker, and threw her keys under the car. The other man grabbed the keys and both carjackers took off the victim's car.

As they drove off, they ran over her foot. The victim suffered a bruised wrist, was bleeding from the mouth and reported pain in her right leg.

The victim reported that an accomplice followed the carjackers out of the parking lot in what she described as a blue/purple-colored Ford Edge with a red drive out tag.

Her car was later recovered in the 3000 block of Continental Colony Parkway SW, in Atlanta's Greenbriar neighborhood.

The suspected carjackers are described as:

  • Black: 5'5" tall, short, cut hairstyle, last seen wearing a red sweatshirt and blue jeans.
  • Black: 5'4" tall, small Afro hairstyle, slim built, last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.
