Vandals Hit Brownwood Park

Slats stolen from park benches.

Remember the old adage that if it isn't nailed down, someone will steal it?

Well, in the case of a couple of benches in , the slats used for seating were nailed down — and they were stolen anyway.

A frequent dogwalker who uses the south portion of the park informed East Atlanta Patch of the thefts and the situation was a point of concern for residents at the June 12 meeting of the East Atlanta Community Association.

Police say they are investigating and urge that anyone who may have seen anything to call them.

Fox 5 Atlanta reported last week that thieves in search of copper have done more than $1 million in damage to park property by ripping out the copper conduits fro streetlights in the parks.
