Trio of Home Burglaries in Grant Park Over Last Three Nights

Several vehicle larcenies reported, too; Grant Park Security Patrol to step up watches.

GRANT PARK — Southeast Atlanta residents are being asked to be vigilant following three burglaries on Cameron and Berne streets and car break-ins those same areas.

In all three cases, the incidents occurred in the early evening, Chris Newman, chairman of the Grant Park Neighborhood Association's Public Safety Committee, told East Atlanta Patch. The burglars gained entry to the homes 

Monday night, there were two incidents, before 8 p.m.; on Saturday, the incident took place before 9:30 p.m., Newman said.

In the Saturday incident, the burglars took a laptop, PlayStation 3 console and jewelry. A television was left behind.

In the other two incidents from Monday night, the burglars tripped the home alarm systems. It's not clear what items, if any, were taken.

On top of the burglaries, residents have reported several car break-ins as well on those same two streets.

The Grant Park Security Patrol, off-duty officers who are hired by the neighborhood to provide additional patrols in addition to APD's on-duty officers will be increasing watches on the east side of the neighborhood, Newman said.
