Southeast Atlanta Crime: Mini Precinct in East Atlanta Not Likely

The final portion of our three-part interview.

KIRKWOOD — East Atlanta Residents have been wishing for a mini-police precinct, but Zone 6 Commander Maj. Timothy Peek said that's not feasible.

To create one means it would have to be staffed and that would mean taking officers off the street when they could better serve residents by being on tactive patrols, he said.

In this final part of our three-part interview, he explains why that is and also why residents need to cognizant at all times about things they can do, such as keeping their cars free of things — the "Clean Car Campaign — that lead to break-ins and thefts.
