INMAN PARK — Atlanta police are looking for a trio of armed gunmen who forced their way into a DeKalb Avenue apartment early Thursday and robbed the residents.

The male victim told police he was in the living room watching television at about 12:13 .m. when he heard the front door being forced open to the apartment in DeKalb's 900 block.

He rain upstairs to the bedroom where his girlfriend was asleep as the gunmen followed him.

As the gunmen tried to break through the bedroom door, the girlfriend ran and hid in the bathroom.

But robbers forced their way into the bedroom and the gunman held the couple at gunpoint, while the other two ransacked the home.

The robbers stole a television, two laptops, two iPads, $50 in cash and the couple's debit cards.

The couple told police they didn't see their assailants' faces, but they could identify them by their voices. They also said the man who held them at gunpoint wore army fatigue pants.

This is why you need a gun. These same three assailants would have left in body bags had they attempted this at my home. That couple are just lucky to be alive as murder doesn't carry much more time as home invasion and dead witnesses can't testify in court....

This is unbelievable and truly scary. These people have to be found before they do it again which we all know they will. This goes way beyond breaking into someone's home when they are at work.

Charles Allen: I completely agree! I am so sick of these criminals getting away with horrific crimes... I am all for arming oneself. I would hate to have to take a life but if some thug broke into my house and I had to protect my family, I certainly wouldn't hesitate. Every time I read a story in the paper or hear the news about a homeowner shooting a robber, I cheer.
