Double-Murder, Suicide, Leaves Three Dead In Kirkwood

Atlanta police say motive behind shootings unclear

Two men and one woman are confirmed dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Kirkwood.

The shootings took place inside a home in the 2200 block of Ridgedale Road NE between Hillcrest Avenue and Rocky Ford Road NE.

"It would appear that one individual shot the other two and then died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound," said Lt. Paul Guerrucci, the Atlanta Police Department's Homicide Unit Commander.

A fourth person who came to the home in the early afternoon, found the three victims and called police, Guerrucci said.

It's too early to determine a motive for the killings, he said, citing it's still under investigation. But police believe one of the men shot the other man and the woman before turning the gun on himself.

Police officials aren't describing the nature of the relationship between the shooter and his victims, but they are characterizing the shootings as a domestic incident.

At least two of the victims lived in the home, but investigators aren't saying which of the two.
