Overnight Shooting Incident in East Atlanta Village

EAST ATLANTA — Atlanta police arrested a man early Saturday morning following a shooting incident on Flat Shoals and Glenwood avenues —in the heart of the East Atlanta Village.

No one was hit.

Sebastian Davis of Rock 100.5's the Regular Guys Show, captured a portion of the incident on the attached video.

It's the third gun incident in East Atlanta in the last two months. And it comes as police have stepped up patrols here and in other Southeast Atlanta neighborhoods following a rash of serious crime incidents.

An Atlanta police officer working off-duty detail at the Graveyard Tavern just west of the intersection, heard two rounds of gunshots being fired and nabbed the suspected shooter, 43-year-old Deric Ryan, in the 1:50 a.m. shooting.

The officer suffered an injury to his right middle finger in the fracas.

Ryan, who was armed with a Smith & Wesson 38 caliber revolver, had abrasions, but he told police they were due to a a fight that occurred between him and another man.

That man, Ryan said, ran away from the scene.

Police transported Ryan to the detention center at Grady Memorial Hospital.
